In view of the latest epidemic development and the relevant school activities arrangement, the organizing committee of 2020 STEM Robotics Competition regretfully decided to cancel all the planned activities, including training workshops and competitions of all divisions.

The organizing committee sincerely thank the support of all participating students, teachers, schools and the sponsors. We are working hard to prepare for the next competition of 2021. Participants of the secondary divisions enrolled in the 2020 competition are advised to keep the Explorer robots for the time being and continue to practice and prepare for the next competition.

Cancellation of the Primary Division

Owing to the extension of quarantine period, the venue of competition cannot be secured. Thus, the competition committee has decided to cancel the Primary Division of STEM Robotic Competition in 2020 and the associated workshops.

We are sorry for the inconvenience that may have caused. Please accept our deepest apology. We hope you still support this activity in the next year.

Postponement of Secondary Division

Owing to the extension of quarantine period, we are not able to secure the competition venue in July. Thus, the competition committee has decided to postpone the Secondary Division (both Senior and Junior) of STEM Robotic Competition 2020 to September 19, 2020.

We are sorry for the inconvenience that may have caused. Please accept our deepest apology and continue to support this event.

[P.S.] F.3 Students in 19/20 semester are still eligible for Junior Division even though they will be F.4 students in 20/21 semester.

Workshops for Secondary School Divisions of STEM Robotic Competition 2020 will be held on

Time: 9:30-12:00 (Junior Secondary), 14:30-17:00 (Senior Secondary)

Format: ZOOM Online conference meeting

Room Number and Password will be sent to the teams via e-mails.

It is appreciated if the teams have obtained the robots before joining the online meeting.

We have sent e-mail some time ago to inform the teams how to obtain robots.

Please fill in the form and sign on the robot-on-loan letter on/before 14/5.

As hinted in previous announcement, the committee has decided to lend robots to secondary school teams for practicing.

We have sent e-mails to school a little earlier. Once received the e-mail, please follow the instruction to register shipping address and sign on the agreement. We will ship the robots to you from The Chinese University of Hong Kong in mid-April, postage paid.

Please handle the robots carefully. The teams will use them to participate the competition.

In consideration of the development of the novel coronavirus epidemic, the activities of 2020 STEM Robotics Competition have been subject to repeated postponement in the past few weeks. The organizers of the competition hereby express our sincerest gratitude to the understanding and support from the participating schools.

In accordance with the EDB’s latest announcement regarding class resumption arrangement for primary and secondary schools, the STEM Robotics Competitions are now postponed to the middle of July. The pre-competition learning activities will be re-scheduled accordingly and carried out, if appropriate, in the form of online lectures/tutorials and self-study.

The Silicon Valley Technology Exploring Tour in July 2020 will be cancelled. However, the winning teams of the junior secondary and senior secondary divisions in this year’s competitions will be invited and sponsored to join the similar tour activity in the summer of 2021.

STEM Robotic Competition 2020 is postponed according to EDB annoucement dated 13th February.

The new competition date of secondary divisions is 25th April, 2020.

Workshops of secondary divisions will be held on 28th-29th of March 2020.

Competition of Primary division will be postponed to the early half of July, 2020.

As a kind reminder, winning teams will accept challenges from various CTO, department managers, and researchers in University of California. Without strong foundation in STEM, it is difficult to pass these challenges. Regard this Robot Competition as a basic requirement only. Before the tour to California, we will explain the Challenges and release study hints. All winning students are REQUIRED to participate.

Due to the situation about Novel Corona Virus, we decide to postpone the STEM Robotic Competition.
